Arnoutovic needs to go

Did not look interested from my armchair. A clearance in the 2nd and nothing else.

In the match thread, someone mentioned Chinese clubs have two weeks left before it closes. If he's not going to contribute and no doubt unsettling the squad, he has to go. Problem is, is there any interest?

I am not sure how anyone does not care about what he did in January? He screwed up the whole season, I have no doubt a committed Arnautovic and united dressing room would have kept us in the cup and picked up some more points.
But both us and him need some good performances and goals to get a good price for him in the summer and I have no doubt the greedy cunt knows that and will do it.

He never refused to play and I suspect it was as much the club holding him back with the possibility of £45m being put on the table. The fact that it didn't happen wasn't his fault (ok the way he went about might have been) and as far as his improved contract wasn't it based on performance incentives?

Did he go on strike? Don’t recall that and I’m not sure that’s how it went down. Thought Pellegrini dropped him- quite common practice these dayswhen a player might be leaving a club.

We should have comfortably beat Wimbledon without him. To say he’s cost us silverware is a bit far fetched. We’ve had times when we’ve been shit both with and without him, and brilliant with and without him.

I’d agree he’s not been as good this season as last, but we were an absolute one man team last season. Don’t see any evidence he’s put on weight or has stopped trying though. It’s hardly like he’s done a Payet or an Ince.

This all just seems like a waste of energy to me. If the manager picks him then I trust it’s because he thinks that gives us the best chance to win. Likewise if he leaves him out.

Has the player gone down in my estimation? Of course. But I don’t see the sense in holding onto all this for too long, and I don’t think he’s wrecked our season. He’s back and he’s playing, and I think we are a better team with him in it. I’m sure plenty might disagree now, but that’s just my opinion.

The thing here is El that he is not playing well and hasn't for months, not only that he's put on weight so is clearly not arsed. He has also caused dressing room upset which probably cost us points and a good chance of silverware.

If this was Perez instead of Arnautovic no one would care or be put out, and we wouldn’t be spending a fraction of the time talking about this. There has been talk Hernandez has said he wants to leave- albeit not directly to the press through his agent- in the last few windows and there’s not really been anyone slagging him off at all.

Honestly, we are reminding me a bit of the Stoke fans when he left them, with so much anger. If he wasn’t one of our best players we wouldn’t care. He’s not behaved brilliantly but I’m not all that bothered about what happened last month. If he plays well then he’s an asset and should be in the team until we do sell him. All this talk of dropping him or keeping him on the bench is just cutting our noses off to spite our faces. Don’t have to like him but I’m not going to not cheer when he scores or anything. If he goes in the summer then he goes, but I think we need to get over it to an extent.

No, I don’t think he needs to go (yet). Physically, it looks to me, like he has been struggling with niggly injuries for a lot of the season. Mentally, whatever the true is of the China move is, he has been distracted by this. I think he’ll knuckle down now that the window is closed and I suspect he will get back to his best. We have not got enough good players to leave him out in the cold and Pellegrini will get the best out of him.

Not been a huge fan of his attitude, save the spell where he was the be-all-and-end-all of our offence but not sure we can really judge him much on yesterday.

Hernandez played better but he also had some service, we were turtling by time Arnautovic came on and he was chasing on his own for most of it.

For me he is on the bench until he shows more. Would hope we could beat Fulham with or without him. Both him and Henadez will be gone in the summer. I would consider starting Silva whats to lose.

I actually think Pellegrini is part of Arnie's problem.

He was so effective under Moyes becuase he played high and we played direct, getting him isolated against one or two centre backs and using his pace, power and dribbling to stretch them, muscle past, and get his shot away.

This played exactly to his strengths. The slower more intricate build up leaves him more marginalised within the team. He's also stopped the Moyes mantra of "keep running".

Unless a deal is already struck I think he'll still be here next season...certainly don't see a 45m quid pay day coming our way!
